Teacher
of Business/CTE and Computers at George Washington High School,
Denver, CO. (One of the 100 Best High Schools in America - Newsweek)
Course
Design: Primary designer and consultant on many DPS courses
including Web Design I, II, Multimedia I, II, Computer Workshop,
and Technological Applications. Also developed high school curriculum
for the National Foundation for Financial Education (NEFE) and
numerous teacher in-service classes.
Curriculum
Development and Instruction: Developed and taught multiple
teacher in-service classes for CDE Credit (Basic Web Design, Digital
Video, Tech-ie Toys for Teachers). Teachers were encouraged to
complete course assignments in such a way that supported and developed
their daily practice as educators. Taught comparable courses to
high school students.
Denver
Public Schools Mentor: Coached several new business department
staff members regarding instructional content and delivery, applying
assessment data to instructional design, and classroom management.
Technical
Duties: Designed and installed numerous computer labs
including user needs assessment, ordering, bulk wiring, workstation
setup, and server implementation. Serviced and repaired workstation
and server problems.
DPS
Perkins Advisory Board President: Directed the Perkins
federal vocational program for DPS. Managed an $800,000 – $900,000
vocational budget for DPS. Coordinated Career and Tech Ed Web
Site, instituted a mini-grant process for distributing funds,
championed increased training funds, coordinated standards for
district-wide courses, coordinated online course assessment.
Leadership:
Business department head of eleven teachers (3 years),
technology committee (2 years), Tech Prep Coordinator (3 years).
Coordinated and implemented 5-year school-wide technology plan,
including the adoption of student and teacher technology standards.
Participant in statewide Leadership In Technical Education program
(LITE), Business Advisory Board Member – developed profile of
career and technology education for the district superintendent.

Multimedia
courses focus on basic design, print (Adobe Photoshop), audio (Wave
Editor), video (Adobe Premier, Ulead Video Editing), systems/project
development, presentations, career development skills (resume, cover
letter, and interviews), and Multimedia authoring (Macromedia Authorware
and Director). The advanced course further develops these skills.
Examples include CD ROM on African-American History, American presidents,
Educational Movies, and a remediation CD for the math department.
Students dominated local, state, and national multimedia competitions
Web
Design courses focus on Web Design, HTML Code, Web Authoring
(Macromedia Dreamweaver), Basic Photo Editing (Photoshop), Web
Animation (Image Ready, Flash), and basic Java script. Students
complete and post academic related projects.
